Charge Transfer Scheme for Atmospheric Ice Sensing
نویسندگان
چکیده
The atmospheric icing parameters are being measured nowadays with the aid of more customized yet limited commercial equipment. The parameters include atmospheric ice detection, icing load and icing rate. The robustness of such equipment is usually under scrutiny when it comes to cold/harsh environment operations. This phenomenon was experienced consistently by the atmospheric Icing Research Team at Narvik University College during data retrieval exercises from its atmospheric icing stations installed at Fargnesfjellet during 2012-13. In this paper it is aimed to address the potential feasibility to produce a robust hardware addressing the icing measurements signals, which includes instrumentation hardware giving icing indications, icing type and deicing rate measurements in a single platform (not commercially available till date). Ice and Water Permittivities for Millimeter and Sub-millimeter Remote Sensing Applications
Recent advances in satellite remote sensing at near-millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelengths (~100-3000 GHz) require accurate complex permittivity for ice and liquid water at these frequencies for different temperatures, especially for cold atmospheric conditions. This paper summarizes the existing experimental permittivity data in the literature, and provides an updated empirical ice permitti...
متن کاملMapping sediment-laden sea ice in the Arctic using AVHRR remote-sensing data: Atmospheric correction and determination of reflectances as a function of ice type and sediment load
Exploiting the fact that the spectral characteristics of light backscattered from sediment-laden ice differ substantially from those of clean ice and that sediment tends to accumulate at the ice surface during the first melt season, remote-sensing techniques provide a valuable tool for mapping the extent of particle-laden ice in the Arctic basin and assessing its particulate loading. This study...
متن کاملMicrowave Radiation from Mixed Phase Cloud and Parameter Retrievals
The measurement of microwave radiation has been widely used in atmospheric remote sensing, such as temperature profiling, and vapor and liquid column measurements [1] [5]. The radiation from atmosphere is due to the absorption (emission) and scattering of electromagnetic (EM) wave by atmospheric particles (gaseous molecules, liquid water droplets and ice crystals). The absorption directly contr...
متن کاملIntercomparison of microwave radiative transfer models for precipitating clouds
An intercomparison of microwave multiple scattering radiative transfer codes used in generating databases for satellite rainfall retrieval algorithms has been carried out to ensure that differences obtained from retrieval techniques do not originate from the underlying radiative transfer code employed for the forward modeling. A set of profiles containing liquid water and ice contents of cloud ...
متن کاملA New Capacitive Sensing Circuit using Modified Charge Transfer Scheme
— This paper proposes a new circuit for capacitive sensing based on Dickson's charge pump. The proposed touch sensing circuit includes three stages of NMOS diodes and capacitors for charge transfer. The proposed circuit which has a simplified capacitive touch sensor model has been analyzed and simulated by Spectre using Magna EDMOS technology. Looking from the simulation results, the proposed c...
